Miller's Point Gathering

As is tradition, the biker crowd descended on Dave's hospitality at the Miller's point boat club the day after the long ride in order to indulge in the good weather, good company and PILES of crayfish!

Being entertained by Louis, as usual :)

Wes, crazy as ever lending a slight manic edge to any gathering!

The Nell's

Louis catching some of Wes' derangement...

This is certainly a moment for posterity: The braai masters took so long in getting things going that Abbu was compelled to actually pick up some tools and feed the beast himself! For those of you who do not know Abbu - he is master in subtle delegation...and is always hungry.

Abbu...in action?

Andy and myself being forced to pose for Marc.

Great pic of 2 awesome guys! *gush*

See - I did not exaggerate when I said PILES of crayfish, and for free/PASELLA. I love Cape Town!

Serious business crayfish-eating is.

Or not...

Rebel without a...guitar??

Oh no wait - he's got it!

Boxing Day Ride - Agulhas

It was an absolutely stunning day for the annual Boxing day ride - a bit far this year (for me anyway) - about 600km round trip to Cape Agulhas and back: I am still stiff in all sorts of interesting places! We had quite a spectacular wind on the way back, but at least it was mostly from one direction.

First stop was Napier where we had a most wonderful brunch/lunch type stopover. Abbu's stomach would not allow us to postpone this most important event any longer.

Ai boys - the pretty girls are BEHIND you!

Must agree, pretty bikes too though...

Off again - next stop Agulhas!

We went all the way to the lighthouse - by some fluke I was actually the first to arrive for a change...apparently destination 'Agulhas' translated to 'Arniston' to the rest of the group....maybe fast bikes kills brains :)...

Really fast biker chick arrives.

Followed - eventually - by Andy, as (Taryn quote) she goes "around cars, while Andy goes - well, behind them." Hehehe.

Really fast Scott arrives - normal people stop in FRONT of the lawn! LOL

Wes and Stacey - next time Stacey will not be on the back anymore!

Sheesh we really do manage to spread out and claim land...

Sea view from the lighthouse.

On the way back we stopped over at Hermanus for a nice drink and snack on the beach front, where a very cool marimba band put out some tunes - no wait, rhythms!

On the beach road en-route Gordon's Bay back we stopped a couple of time to take some pics and also to just rest my wrists which were taking a bit of strain. We did not stop long though as we soon noticed that the wind is actually worse off than on the bike!

Marc in the distance waiting for me.

Lovely view of the bay.

View of Gordon's Bay - as you can see from the water, the wind was howling.

Off again for the home-stretch.

I must admit I was absolutely finished when we got back home, but it was a great day. Now my muscles just need to recover!

Christmas Eve Clan Gathering

Before I start with the current topic, I must share my immediate situation with you: I have just been served a champagne (!) brunch by my darling husband (Mandy, pics just for you: our favourite poached egg and mushie sauce!). Damn, decadence rocks!

Anyway, I digress...

The Nussey clan gathered as per tradition on the evening of the 24th for the proverbial slaughter (and subsequent consumption) of fattened calves/pigs/chicken/tuna et al. Brett had the courage to host the event again, despite the fact that he and Shirley have been working like dogs running their new deli/restaurant. It is always such a pleasure to attend gatherings there, as the house really lends itself to it.

Some pics of Brett & Shirley's house

Pre-dinner gathering outside where the non-smokers pretend to be smokers (or is it the other way around?)

Now that is the way to do it - bubbly glass close at hand...er...both hands

The feast (part of)

In spite of it having been a tradition of the Nussey Christmas gatherings to sing the Swedish song together with an Aquavit toast - nobody has yet mastered the words! I think it is just an excuse for a piss-up... :)

No Christmas is Christmas without some healthy child abuse

Presents!!

Like it when they come in small packages :)

Nussey matrons and eldest sprog

Very tired hosts... No rest for them yet though - still have pudding!
